Abstract: Objective To analyze the changes of white matter fiber in child with autism. Methods Diffusion tensor imaging(DTI) data were obtained from 37 autistic children and 16 age-,sex- matched normal controls.Developmental quotient(DQ),Childhood Autism Rating Scale(CARS),Autism Behavior Checklist(ABC)were also examined. The correlation coefficients between fractional anisotropy(FA)in cerebral tissues and DQ,CARS,ABC scores in autistic children were calculated. Results The results showed that there were no significant differences in FA between the autism group and control group(P>0.05).In the autistic group, the FA values in the left frontal gyrus were correlated with the scores of DQ and CARS(P<0.05). Conclusions White matter damage of frontal lobe may play an important role in histopathologic changes associated with autism.
