The Logical Approach and Action Pathway of STREAM Education Empoweringthe Development of Children′s Core Competencies

Abstract

In response to the new era′s demand for promoting children′s comprehensive development,STREAM education,with its focus on the ″all process″ ″all fields″ and ″all children″,provides theoretical and practicalsupport for the development of children′s core competencies.It outlines an action system, which is specifically manifested as follows:through the integrationof goals across multiple fields,the breakthrough of content knowledge across various disciplines,and the promotion of children′s problem-solving ability andhigher-order thinking skills through multiple approaches and diversified evaluation.The actionable pathways for STREAM education to support the development of children′s core competencies include:effectively translating STREAM educational goals by focusing on the connection between experiences and competencies;selecting appropriate STREAM content by considering individual needs and educational characteristics;organizing diverse and rich STREAM activities by aligning objectives with task-based learning orientations;and shifting from the tendency ofutilitarian evaluation to implementing STREAM assessments that focus on the practical process and children′s development.
