Abstract: Objective To analyse the relationship among fundamental movement skill, body mass index and functional movement in primary school children, and to provide theoretical and experimental basis for promoting the development of children's motor skills. Methods TGMD-2 was conducted on 240 school-age children to assess their fundamental movement skill development level.Children were divided into different groups by BMI and FMS test, and the characteristics and correlation of fundamental movement skill,BMI and FMS ability were compared between different groups. Results 1) There was still a certain gap to maturity level of fundamental movement skill; 2) There was no significant correlation among TGMD total score, object control score and BMI.Negative correlation not only existed between locomotion subjects score and BMI but also between FMS score and BMI; 3) TGMD scores and FMS scores showed significantly positive correlation, indicating TGMD score highly depended on FMS test results. Conclusion The development of children's motor skills requires a systematic scientific training process.

Key words: fundamental movement skill, functional movement, motor skills, primary school children
