Abstract: Toll-like receptors are main receptors for the innate immune system to recognize pathogenic microorganisms and thus educe very important effect in the innate immune reactions. Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4)is one of the major receptors which mediates the signal' s transmembrane transduction, and is of great important to the infective inflammation caused by Gram-negative bacteria.Recently, more and more researchers paid close attention to TLR4 and its signal transduction mechanisms. This review describes the signaling transduction of TLR4, the relationships between TLR4 and lipopolysaccharide(LPS), TLR4 and diseases, confirms the significance of TLR4 research.

Key words: toll-like receptor 4, innate immune system, signal transduction, infective inflammation
