Abstract: AIM: To study the effects of Cordyceps sinensis extract on experimental acute lung injury model in mice.METHODS: Acute lung injury model was induced by intratracheal instillating lipopolysaccharide (LPS, 2.4 mg·kg-1) in mice. The mice were given Cordyceps sinensis extract (ig, 10, 30 mg·kg-1) in 4 and 8 h after receiving LPS.The cell counts in the blood and bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL), the protease activity and the protein concentration in BAL were measured.RESULTS: Cordyceps sinensis extract could decrease the number of leukocyte and neutrophil, and increase the counts of lymphocyte and monocyte. The activity of protease was significantly depressed by the preparation. CONCLUSION: Cordyceps sinensis extract shows protective effect on the acute injured lung in mice.
