Abstract: Aldose reductase belongs to aldo-keto reductase superfamily, which catalyzes the rate limiting step of the polyol pathwany. To date, emerging reports have suggested that aldose reductase mediates intracellular signal transduction pathways that triggered by cytokines, growth factors and oxidative stress. Then aldose reductase is involved in various of pathological processes of diseases. This paper summarized the role of aldose reductase in the non-diabetic diseases.
