Progress of pharmacological effects and pharmacokinetics of stilbene glycoside from Polygonum multiflorum Thunb

Abstract

Abstract: Stilbene glycosides, the special constituents in Polygonum multiflorum Thunb, were reported to be the active ingredients with various pharmacological effects. It is reviewed the research progress of the pharmacological effects of Stilbene glycoside (2,3,5,4'-tetrahydroxystilbene-2-O-β-D-glucoside) on antioxidant system, cardiovascular system, central nervous system and anti-tumor effects. The possible mechanism involved and its possible application are also discussed. Meanwhile, the advances in pharmacokinetics of stilbene glycoside such as absorption and metabolism are also summarized. Thus we can provide some new ideas and strategies for further in-depth research on stilbene glycosides.
