Mouse models of type 2 diabetes mellitus

Abstract

Abstract: Type 2 diabetes was a disease influenced by genetic factors and environmental factors. Animal models of diatetes were essential tools for the understand of the pathogenesis、prevention and treatment of diabetes and its complications. Diabetes mouse models were normally classified into three classes which were spontaneously induced diabetes mouse, experimentally induced diabetes mouse and transgenic diabetes mouse. Each diabetes mouse only imitated clinical diabetes in some aspects and he characteristics of each model about mechanisms and physiology were described in this article. Researchers should choose the suitable diabetes mouse according to their research purpose.
