Abstract: Objective To provide evidences for early diagnosis and intervention by comparing the Gesell's intelligence development characteristics of 2～3 years old children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or with developmental language disorders (DLD). Method A total of 75 children with ASD and 71 children with DLD were divided into two groups respectively.Assessments and analysis of developmental assessment of Gesell Developmental Scale were made between the two groups. Results Five dimensions of Gesell Developmental Scale in ASD children were below normal (gross motor and fine motor could exceed the language area and personal-social area).The population means of all dimensions of ASD children were statistically lower than DLD children's and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.01). Conclusion Intellectual development of the ASD children is lower than the DLD children.Gesell Developmental Scale is helpful to the auxiliary diagnosis of ASD.
