Abstract: AIM: To investigate theProtection of the deproteinised calf blood injection (DCBI)against cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury in the Sprague-Dawley rats.METHODS: The occlusion of bilateral carotid arteries in rats was used to make the cerebral ischemia-reperfusion models. After 30 min ischemia and 20 min reperfusion, bilateral cortex was taken out to measure the content of water and MDA,respectively.Moreover,immunofluores-cent stain method in cortex tissue slice was used.RE-SULTS: The contents of water andMDAmarkedly elevat-ed in cortex 1 h after ischemia-reperfusion.DCBI at 30 or 60 mg·kg-1dosesPrior to ischemia couldPartly reverse the elevation of the water and MDA contents.Morphologi-cal investigation bylight microscope showed the cell tu-mescent in ischemia grouPcompared with sham operation group.Reperfusion following ischemialeaded to aggrava-tion of the cell dropsy and the surroundingPresented spongy alteration;whereas the cells in DCBI-treated groupswere only slightly swelled.CONCLUSION: DC-BIProvides significantProtective effect against cerebral ischemia-repefusion injury.
