Abstract: AIM: To investigate the relationshiPbe-tween the effectsof benazepril andPlasma neuropeptide Y in renal hypertensivePatients with chronic renal failure(CRF).METHODS: Thelevels ofPlasma NPY concen-tration,SBP,DBPand SCr were measured before and af-ter four-week treatment with benazepril in thirty renal hy-pertensivePatients.Thirty blood donors from healthy sub-jects were taken as controls.RESULTS: ThePlasma NPY concentration was higher in renal hypertensivePa-tients with CRF than in normal controls before and after the treatment.After the treatment,thePlasma NPY con-centration and SBP,DBPand SCr in renal hypertensivePatients were reduced dramatically (P<0.01);NPY showed a remarkable correlation with SBPchanges.CONCLUSION: Benazepril can reduce thePlasma NPY concentration in renal hypertensivePatients with CRF.
