Abstract: AIM: To study the safety oflipiodol injected through hepatic artery in Beagle dogs.METHODS: Beagle dogs were injected withlipiodol 0.38,0.75 and 1.50 ml·kg^-1through hepatic arteries.The changes of generic symptom,haematological,biochemical,ECG,ophthalmological,urine andPathologicProfile of organs were measured within one month after the treatment.RESULTS: Lipiodol showed toxicity to theliver,spleen,lung and kidney etc.Toxic dose wasless than 0.38 ml·kg^-1,a dose of 1.5 ml·kg^-1could cause death in 24 h.CONCLUSION: Injection oflipiodol through hepatic artery can cause toxicity reaction of multiple important organs.
