Abstract: AIM: To assess the protective effects of Danzhi capsule (DZC) on vascular endothelial function of type 2 diabetes mellitus by Doppler ultrasonograph.METHODS: 46 patients were randomly divided into two groups, DZC treated grouP(n =24) and western medicine control grouP(n =22).Endothelial function was assessed simultaneously by B mode ultrasonography before and after treatment due to the change in diameter of the brachial artery during reactive hyperemia and in response to taking nitroglycerin sublingually. At the same time, the insulin resistance index, free fatty acid, and fasting blood sugar and change in serum insulin were observed before and after treatment for the two groups.RESULTS: Compared with control group, index of insulin resistance (IR), index of insulin sensitive index, EDVR and NID of DZC grouPwere improved significantly (P<0.05).CONCLUSION: DZC can significantly improve the endothelial function, alleviate IR and delay the occurrence of chronic complication.
