Abstract: AIM: To evaluate the clinical effects of Dun Tu Yi Mu Tang (DTYM) on treatment of diarrhea type irritable bowel syndrome (D-IBS).METHODS: 137 cases diagnosed of D-IBS were divided into two groups randomly.69 cases in treatment grouPwear treated with DTYM while 68 cases in the control grouPwith Dioctahedral smectite and Probanthine.The treatment course was eight weeks.The symptoms such as diarrhoea, abdominal pain, and medication reaction, and the B type ultrasond, the routine test of blood, urine and stool, bacteriological analyse of stool cultivation and liver function and renal function were observed.RESULTS: The total effective rate of treatment grouPwas significantly higher than that of the contol grouP(P<0.05) , no medication reaction occurred in the treatment group.CONCLUSION: DTYM is a safe and effective medicine to treat DIBS.
