Abstract: AIM: To study the anti-inflammatory effects of quercetin on the experimental animal models of abacterial prostatitis.METHODS: Five types of experimental animal inflammatory models in vivo were applied to investigate the anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects of quercetin, including xiaozhiling-induced chronic prostatitis, carrageenan-induced acute prostatitis, croton oil-induced auricle swelling, photothermal stimulation-induced pain, cotton ball granuloma test of mice, and the rabbit urethral smooth muscle tensile test in vitro to examine the catabatic effects on dysuria.RESULTS: Quercetin displayed good anti-inflammatory effects on acute and chronic abacterial prostatitis. Quercetin also had good inhibitory effects on croton oilinduced auricle swelling, photothermal stimulation-induced pain and cotton ball granuloma test of mice and had definite relaxing effects on rabbit urethral smooth muscle.CONCLUSION: It indicates that quercetin has good therapeutic effects on abacterial prostatitis and could alleviate dysuria.
