Extraction of garlic flavone and its antiendotoxin activity

Abstract

Abstract: AIM: To extract garlic flavone and evaluate its antiendotoxin activity.METHODS: The two fractions (garlic flavone 1, garlic flavone 2)were screened and extracted by ion exchange-HPLC, and the neutralization ability of the garlic flavone to lipopolysaccharide (LPS)was determined by kinetic turbidimetric assay. The protective effect of the garlic flavone 2 was observed in mice attacked by 20 mg·kg^-1 of LPS.RESULTS: The garlic flavone 2 could neutralise LPS and protect mice from the attack of LPS.CONCLUSION: The garlic f lavone 2 has a significant antiendotoxin activity on LPS-attacked mice.
