Abstract: Diabetes is a metabolic disorder syndrome characterized by hyperglycemia and cardiovascular complications are major causes of death and disability. 20-hydroxyeicosatetraenoic acid (20-HETE) is the newly-identified active metabolite of arachidonic acid (AA) catalyzed by cytochrome P-450 (CYP450), which is called as the third metabolic pathway of AA. Recent researches suggest its significant role in the regulation of renal function and vascular smooth muscle tension. But there is few reports about the relationship of 20-HETE and diabetes. The present article reviewed the international researches on 20-HETE and diabetic cardiovascular complications published in recent years.
