Abstract: The circadian rhythms of physiology and behaviors are driven by an intrinsic machinery called the circadian clock, which generates rhythms with a periodicity of about 24 hours.Accumulating evidence suggest that the disruption of circadian rhythms is closely related to the development of obesity and its clinical complications. However, the mechanism is incompeletely understood.Researches indicate that the circadian clock regulates metabolism and energy homeostasis by affecting rhythmic release of various endocrine hormones and adipokines.Further study on the interaction between the circadian clock and obesity may provide new ideas and therapeutic strategies for the prevention and treatment of obesity, especially childhood obesity

Key words: circadian clock, obesity, intrinsic mechanism, circadian rhythms
