Abstract: Human lactooligosaccharides(HMOs) are a kind of complex sugars linked by monosaccharides through glycoside bonds, which contribute to the development of infant immune system.A small part of HMOs is absorbed into the systemic circulation, most of which reach the colon.Except for the surface of intestinal cavity and intestinal mucosa,HMOs can exert immune function in many parts of the body. This article reviews the interaction between HMOs and intestinal flora in infancy, mediation of immunoregulation, and inhibition of pathogen as well as allergic reaction.
