Effects of niaodujing Ⅱ on the proliferation of human glomerular mesangial cells in vitro

Abstract

Abstract: AIM: To investigate the effects of niaodujing Ⅱ on cultured human glomerular mesangial cells. METHODS: The proliferation of cultured mesangial cells (MsC) in human embry, stimulated by serum and ET-1 following incubation with niaodujing Ⅱ, was measured in vitro by MTT method and flow cytomertry (FCM). RESULTS: Niaodujing Ⅱ inhibited the proliferation stimulated by serum and endothelin-1 (ET-1) in a dose-dependent and time-dependent manner (P <0.01). In the mesangial cell cycle, the number of cells in G0 G1 phase increased and the number in S phase decreased. CONCLUSION: Niaodujing Ⅱ can suppress the proliferation of MsC by inhibiting DNA synthesis.
