Abstract: Emphysema is one of serious disease in respiratory system that consists of irreversible dilatation and destruction of terminal airspaces of the lung, and the development of clinic and basic study are slowness. In recent years, different animal models of pulmonary emphysema were described in some species such as mice, rats, rabbits, dogs and sheep. But their practicality are still limited because of the long periods of preparation, larger difference of individual, difficult measure and uncertain dependability of pulmonary function index. This paper introduced briefly some progress of mice experimental emphysema as follows the study on fractal geometry for the analysis of irregular and complex morphological structures of emphysema, study on effects of susceptible strain mice on cigarette smoke-induced pulmonary emphysema, and the study on the role of CD8+ T cells and B cells in the pathogenesis of cigarette smoke-induced emphysema. These researches are useful to provide the new idea for the study of emphysema models in mice.
